In Heidelberg, there has been a Bhakti-Yoga centre for more than 30 years (also called Hare-Krishna Temple) having won much appreciation in the region, not only for its popular “Higher-Taste-Restaurant”.

While in the seventieth and eighties most Hare-Krishna devotees lived in the temples, nowadays centres have been developing into places of training and community centres where interested people are offered the opportunity to learn the various and deep Vedic culture and philosophy in order to be able to integrate it into their private and professional life.
The growth of the community is a sign of a healthy development; for in every society only the smallest part of the population lives in a monastery or in a temple.
“The Society for Krishna Consciousness” is probably going to accept this form in the future, for Krishna consciousness (god consciousness) is not restricted to monks, nuns or priests, but can be developed everywhere and by all men independent of sex, age, job or confession.

Our Bhakti-yoga centre moved several times since it came to Heidelberg. Now it is in Heidelberg-Emmertsgrund.
